Music in the Playfield Band Application

Madrona Music in the Playfield is a free neighborhood summer concert series in Seattle. We are currently booking artists for three Tuesday evening concerts on:
– August 11, 2026
– August 18, 2026
– August 25, 2026

The series is designed as an all-ages, family-friendly outdoor community event. We are looking for artists who can help create a warm, lively neighborhood concert experience in a public park setting.

Our current working format is two 45-minute sets within a roughly 6:00-8:00 PM event window.

Please note that this is a community-scale concert series rather than a large plug-and-play festival. Bands should generally assume a modest outdoor production environment, and artists should expect to provide their own sound support.

If your group feels like a strong fit, we’d love to hear from you.

Before You Apply

Please use the application form to tell us about your band.

We aim to send an initial response within a few days whenever possible, even if final lineup decisions take longer. Our current goal is to select bands by around May 1, while still leaving a little room afterward in case booking details or contract discussions require a backup plan.

How long is the performance?

Our current working format is two 45-minute sets within a 6:00-8:00 PM event window.

What kind of audience is it?

The audience is neighborhood-based, all-ages, and family-friendly. People tend to treat it as a community summer event rather than a formal seated concert.

What is the budget?

The series operates on a community-scale budget rather than a larger commercial festival budget. We are happy to discuss likely fee range early in the conversation so we do not waste anyone’s time.

Do bands need to provide their own sound?

Yes. Bands should plan to provide their own sound support. Music in the Playfield does not currently provide a plug-and-play concert setup.

Is there a preference for local bands?

Yes. We give preference to local bands, especially artists with a Seattle or neighborhood connection. We are particularly glad to hear from groups with a Madrona connection, while still considering overall fit, audience connection, and practicality.

Is the event family-friendly?

Yes. The series is intended as a family-friendly neighborhood event, so artists should be comfortable performing in an all-ages public park setting.

How to Change my Photo from Admin Dashboard?

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast

Can bands sell merchandise?

No. Band merchandise sales are not part of the event format. Merchandise cannot be sold unless it is explicitly covered by the permit, and we are not planning around that for this series.

When will we hear back?

We aim to send an initial response within a few days whenever possible. Our current goal is to select bands by around May 1, while still leaving a little room afterward in case booking details or contract discussions require a backup plan.
