Shannon Ro from the East Precinct will be conducting a focus group for the Madrona/Leschi/Mount Baker neighborhoods on Monday, August 1st from 6:00-7:00 pm at Seattle University – Casey, Room 500. Seattle University is partnering with the Seattle Police Department to conduct qualitative research on community crime concern so that the city’s community policing initiative can be improved. The discussion will be based around knowledge of the micro-community policing plan project, interactions with the Seattle Police Department, crime and safety concerns and suggested improvements for Madrona, Leschi, and Mount Baker. Discussions are semi-structured and typically last about one hour. Content of the discussion will be collected by a note-taker but no names or identifiers will be collected. Participants are encouraged to stay for the duration of meeting but are free to leave at any time.
The Casey building is located right along 10th Ave and Marion Street. The surrounding buildings are Loyola Hall and Garrand Building. There is a parking garage located behind Casey called Broadway Garage, and this garage is located between Marion Street and E Columbia Street on Broadway. Once you enter the building, the location of the focus group will at the top level, level 5, in room 500.
Parking Information – There is visitor parking available on campus. For two hours, the price is $6. Pay machines are located at 12th and E. Marion Street (Visitor Lot, P5) and 11th and E Cherry St. (Murphy Garage, P3, Level 1). However, there is free street (2 hour) parking available behind 12th Ave from 13th Ave and on. These are residential streets located right across the street from campus.
